Key Points of the Department

POINT1

Learning about Japan from a multifaceted perspective, from a dynamic Asian perspective

You can choose from three courses: Japanese Culture, East Asian Culture, and Comparative and Interactive Culture. There are few barriers between courses, and you can take lectures and exercises from other courses. You can learn about Japanese culture from an East Asian perspective in a multifaceted and international way.

POINT 2

Deepen the theme from three unique perspectives

We offer classes that combine methodology and local studies in the three fields of [Language, Literature, and Philosophy], [Art, Body, and Environment], and [History, Folklore, and Religion]. By receiving thorough research guidance for each student in small seminars, students can deepen their knowledge of the themes they have set.

POINT3

Overseas training in East Asia and fieldwork in Japan

We recommend studying abroad at a university in China, Taiwan, or South Korea. Through thorough practical education on-site, students will hone their language skills and deepen their knowledge. In addition, in Japan, students will walk around various regions and historical sites during field work in seminars, and by feeling the breath of history, they will develop the ability to imagine between the lines of written materials such as ancient documents.

POINT4

Global Challenge (GC) is also available

We offer three programs (Chinese / Korean / English) that focus on cultivating advanced language skills. Students receive intensive training in each language, aiming to study abroad or achieve high scores on language qualification exams.
