Musashi campus life

I gained the ability to think beyond the superficial appreciation of art.

Department of British and American Studies Language and Language Education Course (former) 3rd year
Graduated from Fuji Municipal High School Shizuoka Prefecture

Before enrolling, I was interested in improving my English skills as well as the history and culture of English-speaking countries. Musashi University is well-known for its small-group seminars, and the appeal of this university is that it makes it easy to actively participate in learning.

Second Year

Learn the methods of collecting and analyzing information necessary to understand works of art.

I was originally interested in art, so I chose Iwasa's seminar, where I studied the basic background of the artworks and the intentions behind the postures, expressions, and gestures of the people depicted. Until now, when I viewed art, I only looked at the surface, but I learned that to understand a work of art, it is necessary to collect and analyze a lot of information, such as the historical background. I became interested not only in art pieces but also in museums, which led to me choosing this seminar in my third year.

Third Year

I gained the ability to listen to and consider different opinions.

I belong to Professor Komori's seminar, who has a deep knowledge of museums, and in the first semester, each student chose one exhibition and gave a presentation. The themes presented by the other seminar students and their opinions in the discussions were interesting, and I feel that I have gained the ability to consider things from multiple perspectives. In the second semester, I am preparing a presentation on the theme of "Displaying popular culture in museums," making full use of the knowledge I have gained so far and new research and analytical techniques. I would like to make use of the analytical skills I have developed in my second year and pursue this further in my graduation thesis.

Seminar's Photos

With a view to writing his graduation thesis in his fourth year, he visited an exhibition at the Shizuoka City Museum of Art, experiencing the atmosphere of the venue and deepening his knowledge.
