University symbol
White pheasant
The symbol of Musashi University is the white pheasant. In April 1998, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the university, the logo was created with this white pheasant and a twig as its motif.

The white pheasant is the emblem of the former Musashi High School, and was designed by Ichiki Shinjiro (the second son of Ichiki Kitokuro, the former Musashi High School), a student of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. It is based on a description in the Shoku Nihongi that a white pheasant was presented from Musashi Province. According to the "Records of the Founding of Our School," "The pheasant is indeed a bird of auspicious fortune. The school's name is already Musashi. Just as Musashi Province produces such an auspicious bird, our school should also produce talented people who will be of use to the nation. Therefore, we made it our emblem." After the war, the former Musashi High School changed its name from "Mukou"("Bukou" is also recognized in some cases) to "Musashi" along with the new education system.
