The former Musashi High School, Japan's first private seven-year High School and the origin of Musashi University, opens.

Due to educational reform, the new Musashi University (Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics) was established.

A Sociology Major was added to Graduate School of Humanities.

Graduate School of Humanities reorganized the Master's programs in English and American Literature, German Literature, and French Literature into European and American Studies Major, and the Japanese Language and Japanese Literature program into Japanese Studies Major, and added doctoral programs European and American Studies Major and Japanese Studies Major respectively. At the same time, a doctoral program Sociology Major was added.
