Message from the Dean
Aiming to solve social problems with knowledge and data
Sociology as an academic discipline was born in Europe after the French Revolution and was initially named "social physics". Just as physics is the study of finding the laws of nature, sociology was created with the aim of discovering the laws (order) of the society in which we live. Sociology and media sociology can provide important clues when considering the goals of SDGs 17, which are considered issues on a global scale today, including inequality societies, welfare, education, gender, environment, labor, cities, information, media, culture, ethnicity, social movements, NPOs and NGOs, and identity. Musashi University Faculty of Sociology also emphasizes education on how to analyze society, such as social research, data analysis, interviewing, and big data analysis. Through the four-year academic learning, students aim to acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills to solve various social problems in modern society.
