Characteristics of the Faculty of Humanities

  1. Learning about local culture from multiple angles Supporting students with a comprehensive study abroad program

    Through learning a wide range of subjects, including language, literature, history, folklore, thought, art, and society, students will acquire the ability to understand, empathize, and form solidarity with other cultures. We also offer a variety of short-term and long-term overseas study programs. There is also active interaction with international students.

  2. The Faculty of Faculty of Humanities also offers career-oriented learning

    The Faculty of Faculty of Humanities also recommends students to take Teacher Training Course and Curator Training Course. Related Courses are available in the department's Specialized Courses, making it easy to academic learning these courses. There is also a Japanese Language Teacher Program that develops the ability to teach Japanese to foreigners. Studying language, literature, history, and art can also lead to licenses and qualifications that can help with career development.

  3. Two global programs to hone your "language skills" and "eyes on the world"

    Global Challenge (GC) thoroughly trains students in their foreign language skills while taking into account the culture and society of the region they study in their respective departments. The other, Global Humanities (GH), aims to develop a more global perspective and the ability to express themselves accurately in Japanese and foreign languages, in addition to the specialized knowledge of the region they study in their respective departments.

Department of British and American Studies

Learn about British and American culture broadly and deeply while striving to acquire advanced English skills

Students will gain specialized and cross-disciplinary knowledge of the culture and history of English-speaking countries, and acquire the ability to communicate at a high level in a global society.

Department of European Studies

Comprehensive study of European culture through the two pillars of cultural studies and foreign language learning

By taking a wide variety of classes in subjects such as literature, history, art, and lifestyle and culture, as well as taking advantage of on-site training and studying abroad, students will hone their abilities to become international citizens.

Department of Japanese and East-Asian Studies

A diverse curriculum that fosters broad learning and deep thinking

In addition to courses that allow students to acquire language skills and techniques, we also offer classes that allow students to learn about Japanese culture and the cultures of East Asian countries with which Japan has close ties from a variety of perspectives.
