Acquire Comprehensive Knowledge and develop practical skills

Musashi University offers all students the opportunity for common, cross-disciplinary learning in addition to the studies in each faculty and department (major), which we call Liberal Arts & Sciences. Liberal Arts is a general term for the academic disciplines that give people Comprehensive Knowledge and practical skills they need to live freely and autonomously, and dates back to the education of ancient Greece and Rome. In the past, it consisted of grammar, rhetoric, dialectics, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, music, etc., and sometimes included the theory and practice of physical education. The spirit of Liberal Arts is reflected in General Education Courses or General Education Courses in the modern university system, but Musashi University includes Foreign Language Courses such as English, German, French, Chinese, and Korean, as well as Specialized Courses common to the entire university. The second major, the minor, is also part of the study of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Science refers to science that values laws and theories, observations and experiments, and data collection and analysis, and can be said to be highly specialized, but the basic parts of these overlap with the study of Liberal Arts. Representative examples of science are natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, and biology, but social sciences such as economics, sociology, and political science are also included in the field of science.

Musashi University Liberal Arts&Science aims to transcend the barrier between the humanities and sciences, in other words, to Integration of Humanities and Sciences. This is why natural science classes are included in General Education Courses. Some Specialized Courses are also taught by science faculty. Learn what facts science experts focus on and what data they provide, acquire Comprehensive Knowledge, and supplement your own Specialized Knowledge. Depending on your field of study, it may also be essential to utilize mathematical sciences such as mathematics and statistics.

Liberal Arts&The Science Education Center is responsible for planning and running General Education Courses for all students. The Center also manages minor courses. General Education Courses are "Information and Communication," "History and Culture," "Modern Society," "Nature and Environment," "Mind and Body," and "Life Management and Career Design."6The courses are composed of various fields, and classes are conducted through cooperation between the Center and Specialized Knowledge members of each faculty. General Education Courses have lecture and practical sections, the latter of which are small-group classes that include experiments and practical training.&Through the study of science, you will hone Comprehensive Knowledge and also develop your ability to apply and put into practice.4Use the knowledge and skills you have acquired through your years of academic learning to realize your hopes and goals for the future and work with others to solve global problems and issues that affect all of humanity.
