School-Designated Infectious Diseases
School Health and Safety Act defines School-Designated Infectious Diseases as follows, and sets out the standards for the period of suspension of attendance for each infectious disease.
| ClassⅠ | Ebola haemorrhagic fever, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever, Smallpox, South American haemorrhagic fever, Plague, Marburg virus disease, Lassa fever, Acute poliomyelitis, Diphtheria, Severe acute respiratory syndrome (limited to those involving SARS coronavirus within the genus Betacoronavirus as a pathogen), Middle East respiratory syndrome (limited to those involving MERS coronavirus within the genus Betacoronavirus as a pathogen), and specific Avian influenza (H5N1 type) |
| ClassⅡ | Influenza (excluding specified avian influenza (H1N1)), Pertussis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Pharyngoconjunctival fever, COVID-19, Tuberculosis, and Meningococcal infection |
| ClassⅢ | Cholera, Shigellosis, Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infection, Typhoid fever, Paratyphoid fever, Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, and Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis |
If You Contract Any of the above Infectious Diseases
◆During the period of suspension of attendance, please recuperate at home.
◆Fill out the Infectious Disease Reporting Form.

◆Please follow the procedure for suspension of attendance as described in the next section.
*Please note that there is a deadline.
◆If you miss a regular exam, it is necessary to follow a specific procedure at the Academic Affairs Division.

Procedures for Suspended Attendance
1. Print out the "School-Designated Infectious Diseases _ Certificate of Suspended Attendance."
2. Ask the doctor who diagnosed the infectious disease to fill out the necessary sections of the "School-Designated Infectious Diseases _ Certificate of Suspended Attendance."
3. Submit the "2." certificate to the Health Clinic within seven days after the suspension period ends (excluding days when the office is closed) to receive a confirmation stamp.
4. Show the "3." certificate to the class instructor of the class you missed and inform him/her that you were absent due to Susupended Attendance.

- Please also be sure to check the Course Guidebook (General Edition) regarding Suspended Attendance.
- If the certificate is not submitted within 7 open days after the end of the suspension period, it will not be accepted in principle.
- A medical certificate in the form of each medical institution can be substituted. In that case, the period of suspension must be clearly stated on the certificate.
- "Other infectious diseases" referred to in ClassⅢ School-Designated Infectious Diseases are not covered by Suspended Attendance.
