If You Plan to Continue Job Hunting After Graduation

Application for Change of Status of Residence 

If you wish to continue job hunting after graduating Musashi University, you can be granted a "Designated Activities" status of residence by applying for permission to change your status of residence with the recommendation of the university.
In addition, you will be granted permission to engage in activities outside of those permitted under your status of residence up to 28 hours per week, which will allow you to work part-time while continuing your job search.
If you wish to apply for permission to change your residence status (extension of period) from "Student" to "Designated Activities" for job hunting purposes, please apply for a letter of recommendation from the university according to the following procedure.
The inspection at the Immigration Bureau takes time, so please make sure you have plenty of time to prepare.

■ Issuance conditions
You must have been job-hunting at a company before graduation and be able to prove it. Applications for a letter of recommendation will generally be accepted up to one month after graduation or completion of the course.

■ Recommendation letter issuing flow
(1) Please contact Career Development Center (03-5984-3724) to request a letter of recommendation.
(2) Prepare the following documents and submit them to Career Development Center
(3) After internal deliberation, the university will decide whether or not to issue a letter of recommendation.

■Documents to bring when applying
(1) Job hunting progress report (A4 size, one page or more)
・His or her past job hunting experience
・Future job hunting plans and hopes
(2) Documents showing that you have been job-hunting
・Emails from companies regarding information sessions and selection procedures
(3) Residence Card
(4) Copy of your passport (page with your photo)
