If You Plan to Continue Job Hunting After Graduation
Application for Change of Status of Residence
Musashi University If you wish to stay with the intention of continuing job hunting after graduation or completion, you can obtain a 'Designated Activities' status of residence by applying for permission to change your status of residence with a recommendation from the university.
Additionally, permission for activities outside the status of residence is granted within 28 hours per week, allowing you to continue your job search while working part-time.
Those wishing to apply for permission to change their status of residence from 'Student' to 'Designated Activities' for job hunting purposes should apply for a letter of recommendation from the university as described below.
The screening at the Immigration Services Bureau takes time. Make sure to prepare with plenty of time to spare.
■ Issuance Conditions
You must have been job hunting for a company or similar institution before graduation, and be able to prove this. Applications for issuance of letters of recommendation are, in principle, accepted until one month after graduation or completion.
■ Recommendation Letter Issuance Process
(1) Please contact Career Development Center if you wish to apply for a letter of recommendation (03-5984-3724)
(2) Prepare the following documents and submit them to Career Development Center
(3) After internal deliberation, decide whether to issue the letter of recommendation
■ Documents to Bring When Applying
(1) Job search progress report (A4, at least 1 page)
・Track record of job hunting so far
・Plans and aspirations for future job hunting
(2) Documents proving that you have been engaged in job hunting
・Emails related to briefings or selection processes from companies
(3) Residence Card
(4) Copy of passport (page with photo)
