About "Viewing disaster news and mental health"

(March 28, 2022)

In this current conflict, the situation on the ground, as seen and heard by people involved in reporting, is being reported hour by hour through various media.
Based on research findings on how reporting on such emergencies affects people's mental health, there are now recommendations for creative ways of interacting with disaster reporting.

1. Keep disaster reporting to a minimum
2. Avoid watching the same disaster reports repeatedly
3. Avoid watching shocking images
4. Avoid "watching while doing other things"
5. People who have experienced trauma or suffer from mental illnesses are more likely to be affected by news reports of disasters.
