Introductory Seminar on Teacher Training
Students will learn about the meaning of the teaching profession, the flow of student life for students enrolled in Teacher Training Course courses, the learning content required to obtain a license, and the reality of the teaching job from a variety of guests including teachers, senior students, and those in the field, and will think about their own aptitude and future learning goals together with their peers.
Principles of Education 1
This course aims to provide a basic understanding of education, schools, teachers, and children, which is necessary when thinking about school education. Participants will deepen their understanding through group discussions while reflecting on their own experiences of teaching at elementary, junior high, and high school.
Principles of Education 2
You will learn what a school is, both in principle and in practice. Each class will focus on one theme and use printed and video materials to learn. In addition to lectures, you will also research and present on well-known practitioners as part of a "Learn from the Masters" project.
Curriculum Design
In this class, we will consider what the role and experience of teachers who are responsible for creating children's learning experiences are, based on the fact that the original language (words before translation) of the educational curriculum is the curriculum (children's learning experience). The class will provide opportunities for small group discussions and watching video of lessons, and aim to have students reflect on their own educational experiences and learn about the experiences of their peers, thereby thinking deeply about the role of teachers in the classroom.
Special Lecture on Pedagogy A
How will 21st century schools be designed? In this class, students will read textbooks and visit schools with innovative practices to explore new school models. The results of their learning will be recorded in a report booklet.
Special Lecture on Pedagogy B
What kind of skills do you need to become a teacher, how should you work with others, and what kind of school should you create? What kind of learning should schools provide to students so that they can lead social lives in the future? You will read the literature, think for yourself, discuss with others, and experience the subject.
Educational Guidance
When you hear the term "student guidance," you may imagine guidance against delinquency or warning against bad lifestyle habits. However, for teachers, student guidance is a very everyday activity, with the main goal of encouraging children to achieve self-realization and become independent. In this class, we incorporate a lot of group work, look back on our own elementary, middle, and high school years, and think about issues such as bullying and creating a place for children from a teacher's perspective.
