The philosophy and Goals of Teacher Training at Musashi University
The predecessor of Musashi University was Musashi High School, the first private seven-year High School in Japan, which was founded in the spirit of "The Three Founding Principles (fusion of East-West cultures, global prowess, self-reflection)" in the midst of Taisho democracy with the goal of "nurturing outstanding human resources who will lead the new Japan of tomorrow" with the goal of "fostering human development." Later, when the school system was reformed in 1949 (Showa 24), Musashi University was opened, and now it is a comprehensive university with 4 faculties and 9 departments.
Based on the above founding spirit (The Three Founding Principles), Musashi University is cultivating human resources with the basic goal of education to cultivate broad and profound Comprehensive Knowledge, specific Specialized Knowledge, and the ability to collaborate and practice with others in accordance with the philosophy of "Liberal Arts and Science". The ultimate goal of liberal arts and sciences education in the midst of an increasingly integrated world is to cultivate global leaders who can acquire a good balance of Comprehensive Knowledge, Specialized Knowledge, and collaboration and practical skills with others, work tirelessly on intellectual inquiry and practice in familiar places, fly to the world in a timely manner, and contribute to human exchanges and the resolution of organizational, regional, and global issues.

Musashi University Teacher Training Course was established in 1957, and currently has teaching licenses for eight subjects across Junior High School and High School. Naturally, education in Teacher Training Course is constructed as something inseparable from the philosophy of our university, and at the same time, based on the philosophy of open teacher training, it aims to nurture students with broad and deep culture from a global perspective, specialized intellect filled with an academic spirit, and the ability to become excellent members of society.
To achieve this goal, Teacher Training Course, first, encourage students to acquire deep culture and academic literacy based on the results of specialized education. These foundations ensure the expertise of the teaching profession, including curriculum development. Secondly, we develop communication skills centered on a global perspective and intercultural understanding. Education in language and information forms the foundation. Thirdly, we develop clinical practice skills that are rooted in children, schools and communities. The foundation of clinical practice skills is not the mastery of a closed system of knowledge, but the accumulation of experience in learning independently and in an exploratory manner in interaction with society.
