Undergaduate school

Musashi University has established the university's "basic educational goals" based on the "The Three Founding Principles" of the university's founding, and based on these, has established the human resource development goals and educational and research goals of each faculty. We accept students who fully understand our educational philosophy and educational goals, and who have the desire to grow into global leaders, as described below.
  1. Those who have the academic ability necessary to academic learning at this university

  2. Those who are eager to acquire broad knowledge, specialized knowledge, deep culture, and problem-solving skills

  3. Those who have basic logical thinking and judgment skills, as well as the desire to acquire sufficient knowledge required to identify and solve problems.

Through various types of entrance examinations, we will comprehensively evaluate the basic academic ability and motivation to learn required for academic learning at our university. The specific content will be determined by the admissions policy of each faculty and department.

Admissions policies for each entrance examination format

The items that our university places particular emphasis on for each type of entrance examination are as follows:
  1. In General entrance examination (General method, The Common Test for University Admissions method), the following points are evaluated:
    • ① The academic ability required for academic learning at our university, i.e. knowledge, skills, thinking ability, judgment, culture, basic foreign language proficiency, etc., will be evaluated through a written examination.
    • ② For Prospective Students who aim to become global leaders as stated in our Diploma Policy, we will allocate more points to English than to other subjects, and will place emphasis on qualifications and scores above a certain level in external English proficiency tests.
  2. In the comprehensive selection process (AO entrance examination), the following points are evaluated:
    • ① Through a document review, we will assess the academic ability required for academic learning at our university, namely knowledge, skills, ability to think, judgment, basic foreign language proficiency, etc. In addition, we will evaluate the results of your Application documents, academic field, or social issue, as well as your motivation to study in your desired department, etc., based on the application documents specified for each method.
    • ② In addition to knowledge, skills, and culture, candidates will be assessed through essays and other methods, including logical thinking, expression, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • ③ We will evaluate applicants' initiative, communication skills, collaborative skills, and motivation to deepen their learning in the field of their desired department through interviews and presentations.
  3. In school recommendation selection (Designated school recommendation admission), the following points are evaluated:
    • ① For students who have been recommended by High School or other institution designated by our university, we will conduct a document review to evaluate the academic ability necessary for academic learning at our university, namely, knowledge, skills, ability to think and make judgments, basic foreign language proficiency, and motivation to deepen their learning in the department of their choice.
    • ② In addition to knowledge, skills, and culture, candidates will be assessed through essays and other methods, including logical thinking, expression, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • ③ We will evaluate applicants' initiative, communication skills, collaborative skills, and motivation to deepen their learning in the field of their desired department through interviews and presentations.

Graduates

Musashi University University Graduate School has established the university's "basic educational goals" based on the "The Three Founding Principles" of the university's founding, and based on these, has established the human resource development objectives and educational and research objectives of each graduate school. We accept students who fully understand the university's founding philosophy, educational goals, and human resource development objectives, and who have the desire to conduct specialized research at this graduate school, as listed below, for each major.

Master's Program

  1. Those who have acquired a wide range of knowledge and deep culture cultivated in their undergraduate studies, and have sufficient foreign language skills to carry out research in their respective fields of expertise.
  2. Those who have the ambition to become highly specialized professionals or independent researchers.
  3. Those who are motivated to contribute to society by acquiring more specialized knowledge and skills based on the experience they have gained in their working lives.
The entrance examination will assess the knowledge and abilities of the above items so that students can pursue fruitful research after enrollment.
Specifically, specialized knowledge and language proficiency are measured through a written examination (which may include a foreign language examination) in a specialized field designated by each major/course, and an oral examination is conducted to assess interest in social and cultural issues, as well as ability to think, make judgments, express oneself, and take initiative, etc., for a comprehensive evaluation (please refer to Application guideline for details of the entrance examination).

Doctoral Program

  1. Those who have acquired a wealth of specialized knowledge through Master's Program and have a high level of foreign language proficiency
  2. Those who have the ability to independently discover problems in their desired field and solve them based on appropriate analysis of original texts and previous research.
  3. Those who have the ability to conduct original, autonomous, and advanced research activities in their specialized research field, and the desire to acquire the academic knowledge that will serve as the foundation for such research and culminate it in a doctoral thesis.
The entrance examination will assess the knowledge and abilities of the above items so that students can pursue fruitful research after enrollment.
