Faculty Development Activities at Musashi University
Faculty Development (FD) activities cover a wide range of topics, but generally involve organized efforts by faculty members to improve and enhance the content and methods of their classes. At our university, FD is defined as the overall improvement of educational activities, not limited to course evaluation surveys or training sessions.
Faculty Development activities at our university began as an effort to improve classes in each faculty, and expanded into a university-wide initiative in 2000. In the process, we have continued to conduct class evaluation surveys and hold training sessions, but at the same time, individual efforts to improve classes have expanded, including the Faculty Faculty of Economics seminar conference, the Faculty of Faculty of Humanities graduation thesis presentations, the Faculty of Faculty of Sociology Shakariki Festival, and cross-faculty problem-solving projects.
In recent years, we have also held student-led FD forums and research and reporting sessions on FD activities by researchers, and we publish an annual FD activity report.

Course Evaluation Survey
Musashi University conducts a university-wide class evaluation survey, and after the survey is completed, the results for each subject are provided as feedback to each faculty member in order to help improve their classes.
In order to further improve our FD activities and class evaluation surveys, we conducted an FD activity survey of full-time faculty members at our university at the FD training seminar held on November 1, 2012. The results are summarized below.
Survey about online classes
In light of the current spread of COVID-19, Musashi University has decided to conduct all classes online for the 2020 academic year. We conducted a "Survey on Online Classes" for all students in order to understand the current situation regarding online classes and to collect students' opinions and requests regarding online classes, with the aim of leading to improvements.
Thank you for participating in our survey.
We have now compiled the survey results and summarized the efforts the university is making to improve the situation.

FD Training Sessions and FD Forums
Musashi University holds faculty development training sessions to equip faculty with the knowledge and skills they need to improve and enhance their teaching content and methods.
Musashi University FD Forum is a project in which students make suggestions for improving classes based on a theme, and then students and faculty and staff discuss ways to improve classes together.
Among FD activities, this one is particularly student-led, and its purpose is to have faculty, staff, and students come together to consider issues based on genuine feedback that cannot be obtained through student surveys, etc.
