Major in Economics, Management and Finance
Master's Program
- Have Specialized Knowledge in economics, business administration, and finance
- Possess the investigative spirit and ability to investigate and analyze in order to clarify a topic that you have set yourself within your field of expertise.
- Possess sufficient organizational ability, writing ability, and discussion ability to communicate research results.
- Students must have an interest in domestic and international issues, and be able to proactively address problems through dialogue or collaboration with others while utilizing their advanced knowledge.
- Acquire Specialized Knowledge suited to each program

Doctoral Program
In this program, students will acquire the ability to conduct independent research both domestically and internationally in their specialized fields as talented researchers who can contribute to the stability and development of society and the economy.In principle, students will be Ph.D.(Economics) if they have enrolled in this program for at least three years (six semesters), received research guidance, earned the required number of credits, submitted a dissertation application, and passed the review and final examination.

Master's Program
(1) Researcher Course

- Have the ability to continue independent research activities both in Japan and overseas
- Students must have an interest in domestic and international issues, and be able to proactively address problems through dialogue or collaboration with others while utilizing their advanced knowledge.
(2) Advanced Professional Course
- Acquire Specialized Knowledge suited to each program
- Possess the investigative spirit and research skills required for career development in a specialized field and for solving a theme of their own choosing

Curriculum Policy

Master's Program
Master's Program consists of one major of Major in Economics, Management and Finance, and provides research guidance on economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, management systems, accounting, and finance. Two courses, the Researcher Course and the Advanced Professional Course, are further divided into career-specific programs and thematic research programs. This course has a curriculum designed to cultivate the specialized knowledge and application skills that enable researchers to conduct independent research activities in the fields of economics, business administration, and finance, and the advanced specialized knowledge and application skills that are required by society for the Advanced Professional Course. In addition, for students who are expected to have difficulty completing the master's course in two years, we have established a long-term student system with a duration of 3 or 4 years.
(1) Researcher Course
- Courses such as "seminars" and "lectures" are systematically arranged to enable students to acquire specialized knowledge and application skills that enable them to conduct independent research activities in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, management systems, accounting, and finance.
- Students are assigned one professor and up to two assistant professors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance they take the courses required to complete the program.
- In principle, master's thesis submitters must undergo a review by a review committee consisting of three or more faculty members in charge of thesis-Related Courses, and a final examination.
- Research guidance is based on a research guidance plan provided to each student by the supervising professor.
(2) Advanced Professional Course
- Courses such as "seminars" and "lectures" are systematically arranged to help students acquire advanced specialized knowledge and application skills required by society in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, management systems, accounting, and finance.
- Students are assigned one supervisor and up to two assistant supervisors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance they take the courses required to complete the program.
- In principle, those who submit a master's thesis or research paper must undergo review by a review committee consisting of three or more faculty members in charge of thesis-Related Courses, and a final examination.
- Research guidance is based on a research guidance plan provided to each student by the supervising professor.
- The Advanced Professional Course consists of a career-specific program with the main goal of obtaining qualifications, an entrepreneurship program with the goal of starting a business, and a thematic research program to promote research on the themes that you are working on in your career
- The career program consists of four areas: civil servants, accounting professionals, data scientists, and securities analysts
- The entrepreneurship programme provides a curriculum to study the theory and practice of business management required of entrepreneurs
- In the Thematic Research Program, the curriculum is organized by the supervisor so that students can conduct problem-solving, practical research on the theme they are working on in their career.
Doctoral Program
- Courses such as "thesis guidance" and "special research" are systematically arranged to help students acquire a wide range of outstanding specialized knowledge and research skills in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, management systems, accounting, and finance.
- Students are assigned one supervisor and up to two assistant supervisors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance, they take "special research" courses, which are characterized as advanced seminars on Specialized Courses, and "thesis guidance" courses, which are aimed at preparing for thesis writing.
- Students must prepare and submit an annual research report each year until they submit their dissertation. Research guidance in this course is provided by the supervising professor based on the research guidance plan.
- The content of the thesis application must be two or more papers that have been published or accepted in the Musashi University Journal or a well-established academic journal in the major academic field (one of which may have already been accepted).
- After the formal submission of the thesis, the thesis must be reviewed by a review committee consisting of three or more faculty members in charge of thesis-Related Courses, and a final examination must be taken.
Students enrolled before the 2026 academic year
Master's Program

- A systematic arrangement of "exercises" and "lectures" is provided to enable students to acquire the specialized knowledge and application skills necessary to conduct independent research activities in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, business information, accounting, and finance.
- Students are assigned one professor and up to two assistant professors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance they take the courses required to complete the program.
- In principle, master's thesis submitters must undergo a review by a review committee consisting of three or more faculty members in charge of thesis-Related Courses, and a final examination.
- Research guidance is based on a research guidance plan provided to each student by the supervising professor.
(2) Advanced Professional Course
- In order to help students acquire the advanced specialized knowledge and application skills required by society in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, business information, accounting, and finance, courses such as "exercises" and "lectures" are systematically arranged.
- Students are assigned one supervisor and up to two assistant supervisors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance they take the courses required to complete the program.
- In principle, those who submit a master's thesis or research paper must undergo review by a review committee consisting of three or more faculty members in charge of thesis-Related Courses, and a final examination.
- Research guidance is based on a research guidance plan provided to each student by the supervising professor.
- The advanced professional course will have a career-specific program aimed primarily at obtaining qualifications, and a thematic program in which students advance research according to a pre-determined theme.
- The career-specific programs are divided into four areas: civil servant, accounting professional, IT management strategist, and securities analyst.
- The thematic program is structured so that students can select a research topic from eight themes and conduct practical, problem-solving research.
Doctoral Program
- In order to help students acquire wide-ranging and outstanding specialized knowledge and research skills in the fields of economic theory, economic history, applied economics, management, business information, accounting, and finance, subjects such as "Thesis Guidance" and "Special Research" are systematically arranged.
- Students are assigned one supervisor and up to two assistant supervisors from among full-time faculty members, and under their guidance, they take "special research" courses, which are characterized as advanced seminars on Specialized Courses, and "thesis guidance" courses, which are aimed at preparing for thesis writing.
