applicant
"Researchers" (faculty and administrative staff engaged in research at the University, undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research activities at the University, and researchers at the Institute for Comprehensive Research, etc.) have the right to apply, but regarding applications from undergraduate and graduate students, please see below.
[Applications for undergraduate and graduate students]
In principle, research conducted by undergraduate students in class is not subject to review by this committee. Supervising professors and faculties should carry out the research responsibly. However, even undergraduate research may be subject to application if it is deemed highly invasive, if approval is requested from an external institution by the Research Ethics Review Committee, or if it involves presentation at an academic conference or publication in a paper. In such cases, the supervising professor should apply for the research ethics review (principal researcher), and the student should apply as the researcher.
In principle, for graduate students, their supervisor must thoroughly check the research content and submit the application as the research applicant (person in charge), with the graduate student being the person conducting the research.
However, if a graduate student needs to be the research ethics applicant for an academic conference presentation, paper submission, etc., he/she may do so.
The research applicant (responsible person) must fully understand the research plan of the researcher in advance before submitting the application.
