About Musashi University East-West Cultural Fusion History Research Group
The Society was established in June 2022 with the establishment of regulations and began research activities. The fusion of Eastern and Western cultures was an ideal advocated by many intellectuals and educators in the early Meiji period, and Musashi Gakuen has also added this to its founding spirit since its founding. Our research group aims to reject ethnocentrism and to uncover the various aspects of world historical convection and fusion of civilizations and cultures from a global perspective, without falling into either East-praise or West-centrism, and to recreate unknown facts and forgotten pasts. We hope that our academic activities will contribute to the realization of mutual understanding between different cultures in reality and a world without conflict. The themes that the Society deals with are diverse, but examples include the conflicts, clashes, and fusions that arise between different languages, literature, ideas, religions, and technologies. Regular meetings where research presentations and exchanges of opinions are held in an open format with general participants. We also plan public lectures, etc. Membership is free, including for those from outside the university, so please contact us if you are interested.
