2019年度の活動報告

Musashi University Faculty of Economics Noriyuki Takahashi

2019年度の活動実績の概略

This year, we carried out two main activities.
The first is the implementation of a community business "research" course. This research course, which has been held continuously since 2012, is aimed at people who want to learn more about community business and those who have already started a business, and covers the environment surrounding community business and hot topics in the area. It is characterized by being aimed at a wide range of people, including those who are only interested, those who have no intention of starting a business themselves but are interested in supporting it, those who are considering starting one, and those who have already started. The ultimate aim is to form a "community" related to community business. This year's course was held five times. The theme for this year was "regeneration" and "reconstruction" of the region. The lecturers were invited from the "communities" that have been connected and formed through community business research activities so far. It is a useful opportunity to continuously share information about activities in each region.
The usual limit of 30 participants was deliberately reduced to a small group of around 15 people, making this a forum for interaction. Participants are always highly interested in the theme, and lively discussions can be seen between the speakers and participants, which suggests that this year's mission of "forming a community" was once again achieved. Despite being held late on a weekday, with the intention of attracting working adults, there were also university students and Musashi High School and Junior High School students in attendance, and they were seen actively participating in the discussion during the 30-minute question and answer session at the end.
The concept of the courses is shown in Table 1, the date, title, and instructor name of each course are shown in Table 2, and the number of participants is shown in Table 3.

This year's theme is "regeneration" and "reconstruction" of the region. We will invite guests who are challenging the issues facing the region, such as financial collapse, disasters, depopulation, and industrial decline, and have them think about this theme together with the audience.

The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the direction of city administration after Mayor Suzuki becomes Governor of Hokkaido and to discuss a lecture scheduled for autumn. The new mayor is a "pure" Yubari man, having come from Yubari, worked at Yubari City Hall, and is a city council member, and it was confirmed that he will steadily carry on the policies of the previous mayor Suzuki. It was decided that Mr. Kanazawa, who was a close aide to the previous Yubari mayor, would be the speaker for the autumn lecture.

In order to further develop revitalization measures that utilize local resources, a new event called the Ryukyu Lantern Festival has been held as a measure to deal with the off-season and attract visitors. Last year, I was unable to visit during the Lantern Festival, but this year the period was extended, so I was able to visit during the event. In addition, I conducted a hearing survey about the COVID-19 countermeasures being taken as a tourist destination.
