Japanese Political Economy (JPE) was published as Japanese Economic Studies from 1972 to 1996, and as Japanese Economy from 1997 to 2013. In 2018, an international editorial board was formed under a new editor-in-chief (Shinji Yokokawa) and co-editors. JPE's secretariat is currently located at the Musashi University Musashi Institute for Social Sciences.
JPE covers a wide range of economic theories, historical analyses of capitalism, and current social and economic issues (such as depressions, financial instability, gender, environment, economic development, society of inequality, international relations, and policy) in political economy and international relations.
