2012年度の活動報告

Musashi University Faculty of Economics Department of Management Noriyuki Takahashi

1. Overview of activities in 2012

This year, we carried out three main activities.

The first was a field survey, the second was the holding of a community business course as an attempt to nurture local leaders in community business, and the third was a lecture held in collaboration with Waseda University.

Regarding on-site research, this year (2011), on-site interviews were conducted in three locations (Yokote City, Akita Prefecture; Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture; and Minami Kiso Town, Nagano Prefecture). As for courses, a total of six lectures, seminars, presentations, etc. related to the community business course, which is being held jointly with Nerima Ward, were held. In addition, as a new attempt, five research courses were held, providing a forum for collaboration between people who are already running community businesses. Including these research courses, a total of 11 courses have been held in collaboration with Nerima Ward.

Thirdly, in collaboration with Waseda University's Entrepreneurship Research Group, we invited Associate Professor Donna Kelly of Babson College, the number one school in the United States for entrepreneurial education, to give a lecture.

Starting this year, in addition to the regular community business courses, five community business "research" courses were also held. The regular courses are aimed at people who are about to start a business, and focus on providing guidance on know-how, starting with the mindset required. However, the research courses are aimed at people who want to learn more about community business and those who have already started a business, and cover the environment surrounding community business and hot topics in the field. Although it was the first year, there were more applications than the capacity was available, and the number of participants did not decrease significantly with each session.
