Class Cancellations

1. Class cancellation due to unavoidable reasons of the instructor

If a instructor is unable to attend a class due to unavoidable reasons such as illness or attending a conference, the class will be cancelled. In this case, a notice will be posted on the 3S. In addition, in the case of an emergency, a staff member from Academic Affairs Division will visit the classroom and contact the student verbally. Please note that as a general rule, written notices will not be sent, such as by posting notes at the classroom entrance or on the blackboard.

If the instructor does not show up to class 30 minutes after the class start time, please contact Academic Affairs Division. After Academic Affairs Division confirms the situation, Academic Affairs Divison will give you instructions on how to proceed with the class.

Please check with the instructor of the class for details on measures to be taken for cancelled classes. Note that make-up classes (see the course guidelines for details) may be held to make up for the lack of classes due to cancelled classes, etc.

2. Class cancellations due to events

There may be cases where classes are cancelled due to events, etc. The dates of the university-wide class cancellations are indicated in the Academic Calendar.  Please check for yourself.

3. Class cancellations due to transportation outages

In the event of transportation accidents, strikes, or natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes, classes will be canceled according to the following criteria. Please be aware that our basic policy is to hold classes as much as possible. However, classes may be canceled regardless of the following criteria.

This cancellation policy also applies to regular examinations. If regular examinations are cancelled, instructions will be given in 3S.
