【Important】Warning about overseas travel due to the situation in the Middle East
April 2026
To Overseas Students
Musashi University President Noriyuki Takahashi
【Important】Reminder of overseas travel due to the situation in the Middle East
In light of the current deteriorating world situation, especially in the Middle East, we would like to remind students who are planning to travel abroad or are already staying abroad as follows.
1. Check the latest safety information and carefully consider traveling
Please be sure to check the risk level of your destination and surrounding areas on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Overseas Safety website.
Currently, Iran's risk level 4 (evacuation advisory), Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Oman have been raised to 3 (travel suspension advisory), and other neighboring countries and regions have also been updated with danger information. The situation can change greatly in a single day. We strongly recommend that you postpone or cancel travel to these regions and surrounding countries/regions.
In principle, the use of flights (connecting flights) via airports in the Middle East region is not permitted, regardless of the destination of travel. This is because airport closures, cancellations, and delays have been caused by a series of deteriorating situations, and there is a risk of being involved in unforeseen situations. If you are heading to Europe or other countries, please choose a route that avoids the Middle East, such as a northbound or direct flight, and double-check your itinerary.

2. Handling of University Dispatch Programs
For Study Abroad through University Agreement and various short-term programs (e.g., Short-term Language study abroad program) dispatched by the University, the university may cancel the dispatch or recommend that the student return to Japan based on the safety information (hazard information level, etc.) of the destination.
Even if you are allowed to travel to an area, it does not prevent you from canceling your trip at your own discretion.
3. Actions during travel
While traveling, please keep the following in mind:
・Never approach large-scale gatherings, demonstrations, or political or religious gatherings.
・Respect local laws, culture, and religious practices
・Prepare for unforeseen situations and always secure a means of communication.
・Refrain from going out at night for non-essential purposes.
4. Emergency response
Please be sure to register with the "Tabi Cash Register" in advance so that you can get the latest information about your stay.
In the unlikely event that you encounter an incident or accident in the area, please immediately contact the local Japanese embassy or consulate and the Global Education Center (E-mail oism"@"musashi.jp) as your top priority.
5. Obligation to contact the university
Before traveling, during your trip, or after returning to your home country, please report to the university as soon as possible in the following cases:
・Change of travel plan
・Local troubles and poor health
・Evacuation and movement due to deteriorating situation
6. Insurance and Crisis Management System
It is mandatory to subscribe to overseas travel insurance and the university's designated crisis management service. Please check the coverage details and emergency support system thoroughly in advance.
The University will give top priority to the safety of students. The contents of this notice may be updated due to changes in the situation in the future, so please be sure to check the contents of any communication from the university.
