Director's Message

A university is a place of education where students are exposed to cutting-edge science and acquire specialized and comprehensive knowledge as well as practical skills. Therefore, universities must constantly improve and maintain the quality of their education. To this end, it is essential to constantly conduct high-level research. In the field of university education, excellent researchers are the ones who can provide excellent education.Universities also play a direct role in contributing to society. The results of academic research conducted at universities are of course useful for the development of young human resources who will enter the workforce in the future. It contains a wealth of new knowledge that can be applied by individuals and organizations working on various issues of contemporary society. However, real social, cultural, political, and economic problems are not so simple that they can be solved only with knowledge from a limited academic field.A good example is the issue of AI engineering. It is deeply related not only to mechanical engineering but also to legal, ethical, linguistic and cultural issues. It is necessary for the leaders of academia to cooperate with each other in the spirit of fusion of the humanities and sciences. It is also the mission of a university to disseminate a wide range of academic information and make various concrete proposals in cooperation with various organizations outside the university. The purpose of Musashi University Comprehensive Research Organization is to promote such collaborative research from a university-wide perspective.

The main activities currently underway are as follows.

  1. Daily surveys and research activities, dissemination of academic results, and publication of journals
    • Researchers from Musashi University's four faculties of economics, humanities, sociology, and international liberal arts, as well as the Center for Liberal Arts and Sciences Education, which is responsible for general education, have achieved research results that are highly regarded both domestically and internationally in their respective fields of expertise.Musashi University Comprehensive Research Organization is responsible for promoting these research activities in general, as well as supporting and managing the acquisition of public research funds (competitive funding). We are also involved in a project to promote the dissemination of research results by distributing academic books written by our full-time faculty members to outside research institutions and researchers. It also publishes the "Journal of the Musashi University Comprehensive Research Organization".We also provide editorial support for the bulletins of the university's academic societies.
  2. Planning and implementation of project-type interdisciplinary and comprehensive research
    • Musashi University Comprehensive Research Organization plans and conducts interdisciplinary and comprehensive project research with an awareness of the importance of sharing of research results between the university and society.
  3. Cooperation with local communities and citizens, and the activities of study groups
    • Musashi University, located in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, has long emphasized its ties with the local community, and has made its research results public through lectures and other events, as well as making proposals from the standpoint of researchers.Every year, many people participate in these events. There are several study groups within the Research Organization that deal with global social, cultural, and local issues, and their activities provide the intellectual foundation for planning lectures and other events.
  4. Initiatives to maintain and improve research ethics
    • In order for the results of specialized research at universities to be properly evaluated and utilized, reliability in content is essential. Therefore, under the supervision of our university president, Musashi University Comprehensive Research Organization has established the necessary regulations for researchers to be aware of their social responsibilities and to maintain and improve research ethics, and provides ethics education based on these regulations.
