Overview

The early modern world was characterized by the rapid advance of globalization. The roles played by navigators, conquerors, and missionaries are well known. During this period, these people brought Western cultural artifacts to the Eastern world, but the reverse flow was also powerful. Chinese thought, art, and institutions in particular had a significant influence on contemporary Western regions. This research seminar will focus on the reception and understanding of Confucianism (Confucianism) in Britain. While the presentations will be in English, a facilitator will act as the moderator and provide supplementary explanations in Japanese to ensure that the general public can understand. We hope you will participate.
