Moe Yamauchi: Sexual Selfies Enable the "Subject of Visibility": A Visual Cultural Study of Secret Account Girls

Summary: We invited Moe Yamauchi to talk about "The subject of showing that sexual selfies make possible" ——Yamauchi will be speaking about her "Visual Cultural Study of Ura-aka Girls." This presentation will be based on the findings of her doctoral dissertation, which were obtained through interviews and participant observation of so-called "ura-aka girls," who post sexually charged selfies on social media. From a media history perspective, she will examine how these girls proactively present their "body as image" through selfies, and will also analyze the relevance of this to contemporary oshikatsu (supporting idols).
