Digital Transformation (DX) is becoming widely known as a way for companies to not only improve their business processes but also transform their products, services, and business models themselves, as well as their organizations, corporate culture, and climate, thereby establishing a competitive advantage. AI is an important digital technology, and its social implementation is expected to play a major role in promoting DX. This was also a topic discussed at a past public seminar by this study group. In this seminar, Professor Yaegashi, who has led numerous DX initiatives at Kagawa University, will give a lecture on the insights gained from DX efforts at his university and the applicability of these to other fields (such as small and medium-sized enterprises).

Lecture: Promoting Digital Transformation in Universities - Through Practice at Kagawa University - Masato Yaegashi (Kagawa University)

Overview

Promoting digital transformation faces a variety of challenges common to not only universities but also small and medium-sized enterprises, such as "dispersion of on-site business knowledge," "vendor dependency," and "difficulty in securing human resources." At Kagawa University, students and staff are taking the lead in implementing various initiatives to resolve these challenges, including in-house development of business systems, utilization of business data, and the Digital ONE Ambassador program. This presentation will introduce examples of Kagawa University's initiatives and the knowledge gained from them, as well as look ahead to the possibility of applying these to other fields (such as small and medium-sized enterprises).
